GLOBAL "VIRTUAL UNIVERSITY"
PROJECTS
This
project will develop new kinds of highly distributed, technology-enabled
universities for the 21st century that will operate easily
across national and international boundaries.
The goal
is to develop a standardized and highly flexible "technology
template" that can serve numerous global virtual universities.
Each will have its own specialization - e.g. a global medical
school that teaches both Western and Chinese medicine, a global
university specializing in education technology, etc.
These
new, global virtual universities will offer certificate, non-certificate,
and formal degree programs at graduate and undergraduate levels
and to traditional as well as adult "lifelong" learners.
Additionally,
the "Global Virtual University" concept will be extended
to consortiums and alliances of public and private, foreign
and domestic, institutions of education, education-related groups,
and businesses. A vision of international alliances between
like-minded individuals, groups, and institutions will accelerate
the 21st century's abilities to deliver unlimited access to
customized and individualized knowledge systems and educational
opportunities for all people
A true
"KnowledgeWEB" and "LeadershipWEB" will
be developed to accelerate the growth of international collaboration
and innovation.
